DEBRA DAVIS Debra Davis is a compelling artist who writes hook-filled songs that hit deep. Many songs from her CDs have been heard on TV and in films, and have attracted a big national following of fans who call themselves “debheads.†Debra’s new CD, “Complete†(GCG), is packed with her most powerful material yet, and is now in music stores nationwide. “These songs came from the sadness of goodbye and the awe of new life,†says Debra. “In the course of a couple years I was dealing with loss of loved ones, and then the birth of my daughter Ella. JAMES HURLEY One fan describes him as a blend of “Sting, Santana, and Harry Connick, Jr.†Another simply said; "Sting meets the Beatles"...However one tries to describe it, James' exposure to different countries, cultures, and his own natural inclinations have made James’ music a unique fusion of blues, jazz, rock, and pop that crosses musical boundaries. After years of performing in bands, the elegant simplicity of one voice - one guitar was so attractive that in late 2003, James decided to focus on his career as a solo singer/songwriter. His latest release – “The Sun And The Moon†– is the result. It's reminiscent of traditional Jazz and Blues yet has a different, contemporary flavor, it offers the organic simplicity, accessibility and vibrant immediacy of his solo acoustic performances and what has been called, “a voice that can melt your heart.†www.jameshurleymusic.com

GREGG SARFATY Few independent artists have attained the kinds of milestones that Stewboss have achieved in their short career together. The band consisting of Gregg Sarfaty (vocals/guitar), Jano Janosik (drums), Luke Storey (bass) and Frank Lee Drennen (guitar/mandolin/harmonica) have all spent time in bands on major labels. From their own separate experiences, they have gained a first-hand understanding of the inner-workings at a label. Their experience also taught them a lot about the work ethic necessary to achieve success in this business. Four songs from their debut album Wanted A Girl have been placed in independent and feature films. www.stewboss.com
DAVID SERBY David Serby tells simple, (mostly) true stories and writes traditional country songs. Serby spent his childhood in a small Illinois town and his songs reflect the struggles and the challenges of the working man.
Music lovers from all walks of life are sure to connect with the images and emotions evoked by his lyrics. He’s influenced most by artists and writers like Hank Williams, Harlan Howard, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
With the help of his good friend and producer Ed Tree he released his first record. “I Just Don’t Go Home†was recorded at Treehouse Studios in San Gabriel, California with a hand-picked group of musicians including Rick Solem (piano), J.D. ERNEST TROOST Ernest Troost is an Emmy-winning and multiply Emmy-nominated composer of more than one hundred scores for films and television. His new album of songs, “All the Boats Are Gonna Rise,†is a departure from his more well-known work, but also a return to his musical roots. y mixing the traditional country blues and ragtime influences of Blind Blake, Tampa Red and Mississippi Fred McDowell with the literate lyrics of contemporary songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, and John Hiatt, Troost has created an album that captures a colorful world long past of levees, dam builders, morally ambiguous characters, and disillusioned patriots. Moreover, he imbues them with a dark playfulness and relevance for today. www.ernesttroost.com
BUDDY ZAPATA “Turo†the newest album by Buddy Zapata, is such a creative tour-de-force one has to resist the urge to jump up and click his heels. Completely innovative, completely original and completely liberated from preconceived musical formats, expectations or boundaries, Zapata, along with producer, Archie Thompson, has created a brilliant album.
Zapata’s first tune invites us to take a “Boat Rideâ€, its melody pulling us back in time down the Mississippi River to the swamps and bayous of the South. Through this journey, we’re reminded that great music, much like America’s own waterways, has the power and reach to connect us all, North and South, East and West. For his unique artistic vision, Zapata is to be highly commended. For bringing his vision to life through his superb songwriting, singing and guitar playing, Zapata should be considered without a doubt, an American original, in the same vein as John Cage, Aaron Copeland, Bob Dylan and Leonard Bernstein. www.buddyzapata.com
